Dr. Melanie Langford, O.D.
Dr. Melanie has worked at Family Vision Care Optometry since 2012. In October 2021, she and her husband, Dr. Matthew Langford, took over ownership of the office.
Dr. Melanie is licensed in the treatment and management of ocular disease with therapeutic pharmaceutical agents, primary open-angle glaucoma, and lacrimal irrigation and dilation. Dr. Melanie practices full-scope optometry and enjoys working with patients of all ages, especially children. She co-manages LASIK and refractive surgery patients, specializes in the fitting of CRT lenses for myopia control and scleral contact lenses for various eye diseases.
In her free time, she enjoys reading, running, and spending time outside with her husband, 2 children, and her 2 dogs.

Dr. Matthew Langford, O.D.
Dr. Matt has been practicing in San Diego since 2010. He and Dr. Melanie took over Family Vision Care Optometry in October of 2021.
Dr. Matt is licensed in treating ocular disease with therapeutic pharmaceutical agents, primary open-angle glaucoma, and lacrimal irrigation and dilation. He practices full-scope optometric medicine and emphasizes early detection of ocular diseases such as cataracts, diabetes, glaucoma, dry eye syndrome, and macular degeneration. He also co-manages refractive surgery and fits all types of contact lenses, including specialty contact lenses for keratoconus, pellucid marginal degeneration, and other corneal diseases. Dr. Matt is also certified for corneal refractive therapy, a non-surgical approach to vision correction comparable to LASIK.
He is a first-degree black belt in Tae-Kwon-Do, is an avid runner, enjoys playing the guitar, and spending time with his wife, kids and their 2 dogs.

Dr. Gary Sneag, O.D., F.C.O.V.D
Dr. Gary Sneag has practiced optometry since 1977 and has lectured and presented at various conferences for several years. He specializes in the field of vision therapy and enjoys the challenges of fitting all kinds of contact lenses, diagnosing and treating disease, as well as managing his patients for refractive surgery.

Lori – Office Manager
Lori is a San Diego native. She is our Office Manager and has been with us for over 30 years. When she is out of the office, she enjoys spending time with her family and can often be found her with her twin sister, Lisa. She also loves reading, visiting animal sanctuaries and rescues, is passionate about yoga, and loves drinking Champagne with friends.
Tori – Front office coordinator/scheduler
Tori has been with Family Vision Care Optometry Optometry for almost 10 years, first as a pretesting technician and now as a front office scheduler. She is a UC Santa Barbara graduate, Clairemont native, and the office crazy cat lady. In her spare time, she enjoys watching anime with her husband, reading murder mystery novels, and searching for the perfect carnitas taco.
Sarina – Front office coordinator/scheduler
Sarina was born and raised in Clairemont. She started coming to our office for Vision Therapy in 2006 and shortly after became a patient of Dr. Langford. She loves to spend her weekends with her family and is on the constant hunt for the perfect margarita pairing to Tori’s carnitas taco. Fun fact: Sarina and Tori have been best friends since kindergarten.
Rina – Dispensing Optician and Frame Buyer
Rina joined our office in 2010 and brings with her over 20 years of experience. She manages our frame inventory and can easily pick out the ideal frame for our patients.
During her free time, she loves snowboarding, trying new restaurants, and travelling with her husband and daughter.
Javier – ABO Certified Optician
Javier is an American Board of Opticianry (ABO) certified optician and possesses over 19 years of experience in the optical field. He assists in laboratory production and with frame selections. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family and watching his son play baseball.
Sarah – ABO Certified Optician
Sarah has been in the optical field for 15 years and will celebrate her 10-year anniversary with Family Vision Care in 2025. As our optician, she’s here to help with eyeglass fittings and dispensing, contact lens training and orders, and occasionally assists with pre-testing patients. Originally from Texas, she enjoys playing tourist in San Diego- catching live music, exploring local spots, and taking beach walks around her Pacific Beach neighborhood.
Cristene – ABO Certified Optician
Cristene earned her B.S. in Health Science with a focus on Community Health Education from California State University, Long Beach. With over ten years in the optical world and ABO certification under her belt, she’s passionate about helping people see—and feel—their best. A total Disney fanatic and foodie at heart, Cristene is always on the hunt for her next favorite meal or magical adventure. Outside of the office, you’ll find her exploring San Diego with her husband and two daughters, soaking up sunshine and making family memories.
Christina – Vision Therapist
Christina is a San Diego native, boy mom, and loving wife. She loves spending time with her family and friends. In her free time, she enjoys listening to live music, dancing, and gardening. Christina’s goal as a vision therapist is to create a space where kids feel safe, confident, and successful. She is passionate about supporting each child’s learning journey and seeing the progress they make as their eyes and brain learn to work together to better understand the world around them.
Mary – Vision Therapist
Mary started working as a vision therapist for Family Vision Care in 2004. She loves working with children and their families through the vision therapy program! Mary has a B.S. in Psychology and experience working with children of all ages. Outside of the office, Mary enjoys hiking with her husband, their two daughters, and their dog.
Danielle – Optometric Technician
Danielle joined Family Vision Care in 2021 as our Optometric Technician. She enjoys working directly with patients and is eager to help make sure everyone has the best possible experience while at our office. Away from work you can find her roller-skating on the beach boardwalk, whale watching, adventuring with her son around town, or relaxing at home.
